After the iOS version released in May, OpenAI released a separate ChatGPT app for Android users in four countries
The ChatGPT Android app is now available in the Google Play Store, launching a few months after a free iOS app brought the chat app to the iPhone and iPad. According to the company's tweet, it will be available first in the United States, India, Bangladesh and Brazil, and will follow later in other countries, mimicking the gradual rollout of the iOS version. As we reported last week, the Android app is being launched after data from Sensor Tower and Samanweb showed a decline in internet traffic and app installs in June.

ChatGPT was a poster child for explosive success before Threads launched, and it's unclear if the hype continues or has plateaued.
OpenAI's GPT-4 model also supports the Bing AI chatbot, which has been available for Android for several months, while Google's Bard AI relies only on a web interface, not a standalone app. While many tech companies are deploying AI-powered tools for mobile apps, Apple has yet to release its own chatbot, but according to a recent Bloomberg report, the company is already testing it internally.
