CAT’s latest rugged smartphones won’t break your budget

CAT is launching the successors to its low and midrange smartphones, and these won’t crack if you drop them. The S31 and S41 are two ruggedized smartphones built by Bullitt Mobile, the manufacturer behind the CAT line of smartphones.

The CAT S41 is the follow up to the S40. With a massive 5,000 mAh battery (compared to 3,000 mAh on the S40), you can use the S41 to recharge other devices, or never have to worry about recharging your smartphone. It features a MediaTek octa-core 2.3GHz processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 13MP rear camera, and Gorilla Glass 5 to protect its 5-inch full HD display.
The S31 also features a bigger 4,000 mAh battery compared to its predecessor (the S30 also had a 3,000 mAh battery). The 4.7-inch smartphone runs on a quad-core snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and features an 8MP camera. It also comes with a dual SIM slot.

Both smartphones come with IP68 certification and MIL SPEC 810G, are waterproof up to two meters for an hour (the S31 will last for 35 minutes in 1.2 meters of water), are expandable via the MicroSD slot, and run Android Nougat.

The company is also launching its first tablet, the CAT T20, which runs Windows 10 supports LTE, and is IP67 certified. The 8-inch tablet also features 64GB of storage, 2GB of RAM, and an Intel Atom Z8350 quad-core processor. The T20 will retail for €649 ($777) upon its release.

The S31 will retail for €329 ($394) when it’s released later this year, while the S41 will be available on August 31st from CAT’s website for €449 ($537). CAT has yet to give a release date for the T20 tablet.
